Moldova’s Tax Service Refunded 128 Million Lei in VAT in One Week

VAT refunds for the past week totaled 128 million lei

Over the past week, from July 27 to 31, 2026, the State Tax Service (STS) transferred approximately 2 billion lei to the national public budget and issued VAT refunds totaling 128 million lei.

In addition, according to the agency, State Tax Service officials conducted 212 tax visits to 189 taxpayers over the past week to encourage their voluntary compliance with tax laws.

As a result, the State Tax Service issued 105 decisions regarding violations of tax laws. Based on these decisions, taxpayers were assessed additional liabilities totaling 8.3 million lei, including 5.4 million lei in taxes, fees, penalties, and other payments, as well as 2.9 million lei in fines.

Also, over the past week, the State Tax Service issued 98 decisions on VAT refunds from the budget totaling 128 million lei. As part of the enforcement of tax obligations, 38.37 million lei were collected from taxpayers who had accumulated arrears owed to the budget.

During the reporting week, the National Tax Service also registered 73 cases involving confiscated property with a total value of 1.13 million lei. Proceeds from the sale of this property amounted to 77,520 lei, which were transferred to the state budget, including 800 lei transferred through the Agency for the Recovery of Criminally Obtained Property.
