Diaspora Days Have Begun in Moldova

They will take place throughout August under the slogan “Wherever we are, Moldova unites us!” The program includes events for members of the Moldovan diaspora—young people, association leaders, and all citizens interested in Moldova’s development.

Diaspora Days

For nearly three weeks, Moldova will host cultural, educational, tourism, and sports events designed to help Moldovans living abroad reconnect with their homeland, engage in dialogue with government agencies, and participate in the development of their home communities.

The program includes “Open House Days” and City Quest

The program is organized by the Bureau for Diaspora Relations under the State Chancellery. It begins today with the opening of the exhibition “Bessarabian Authors in the World,” which is being held at the National Library of the Republic of Moldova. Tomorrow, August 4, the Government House will host the event “Youth Talk: Youth Changes the World,” and on August 7, the Palace of the Republic will host the Diaspora Forum.

This year’s key theme is the diaspora’s contribution to Moldova’s development. Topics such as civic engagement, European integration, and the exchange of best practices among Moldovan communities abroad will also be discussed.

As part of the “Open House Days,” 22 government agencies will introduce compatriots to their activities and services. Parliament is also inviting citizens living abroad to learn about the decision-making process.

A total of 31 workshops are scheduled to take place both in person and online. There will also be a book exhibition and meetings with authors from the diaspora, excursions and trips to various regions of the country, the Diaspora Cup, which will take place on August 15, and City Quest—an interactive game designed to promote Chisinau’s cultural and tourist heritage.
