According to the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Economy, the vouchers may be used exclusively to pay for tourism services within Moldova, primarily in rural areas. They are valid for 12 months from the date of issuance, are tax-free, and cannot be exchanged for cash or transferred to another person.
Vouchers can be used to pay for lodging, meals, transportation, excursions, and recreational activities. However, the travel package must include at least two services, one of which must be lodging. If the cost of the trip exceeds the voucher’s face value, the tourist must pay the difference.
Authorities expect that the new mechanism will serve as an additional social benefit for employees, help employers expand their corporate benefits packages, and support domestic tourism, the hotel industry, and the development of rural regions. Owners of hotels, resorts, and agritourism facilities are encouraged to join the program through the National Tourism Office.
It should be noted that the launch of the program is part of the National Tourism Development Program “Tourism-2029.” It provides for the modernization of tourism infrastructure, support for entrepreneurs, and the promotion of the tourism industry as one of the drivers of the country’s economic growth.
What exactly can be paid for with the voucher?
Tourism vouchers can only be used at officially registered tourism facilities connected to the system. This list primarily includes:
- guesthouses;
- farm stays;
- rural hotels;
- tourist complexes.
You can also use the voucher to pay for:
- lodging;
- meals;
- transportation services;
- tours;
- entertainment programs and leisure activities.
