According to the Ministry of the Environment, 12 of these projects have already been completed, whilst a further four are currently under way.

The works are aimed at reducing the risk of flooding for potentially affected areas, agricultural land and infrastructure near rivers or in high-risk zones.

In particular, in the Cahul district, two flood defences measuring 25.6 km and 23.9 km in length have been reconstructed.

Work has also been completed on the reconstruction of the embankments in Gura-Biculei, Anenii Noi district, spanning 11.5 km, and the embankment in the village of Corjova, Criuleni district, spanning 5 km.

In the Ștefan Voda district, work has been completed on the restoration of dams across three sections: 1.8 km in the village of Răscăț, 9.7 km on the Răscăț–Purcar section and 10.3 km on the Purcar–Olanești section.

Work has also been completed on the 9.7 km-long Olănești–Crocmaz dam and the 3.4 km-long Olănești dam.

The Ministry notes that the work is being carried out by the National Administration of Apele Moldovei and is funded from the state budget.
