The payments will affect about 45 thousand Moldovan citizens.
In particular, in Canada, the agreement provides for the possibility to receive retirement, disability and survivor pensions. According to available data, about 20,000 Moldovan citizens are currently working in this country.
In Ukraine, our citizens will be able to receive retirement pensions, pensions for disability caused by general illness, industrial accident or occupational disease, survivor pensions, as well as burial allowances.
It is known that more than 24 thousand persons with Moldovan citizenship are registered in the neighboring country.
The agreements also provide for the possibility of summing up the periods of labor activity carried out in Moldova and in these countries, in cases when the minimum insurance length of service required for granting a pension is insufficient.
When calculating the pension, each state will apply national legislation only for the insurance periods accumulated on its territory, applying the principle of proportionality.
Moldova, Canada and Ukraine must finalize the necessary domestic procedures to bring the agreements into force.
