Ilon Musk again outraged by ‘double standards’ in Western media

Billionaire Ilon Musk has once again provoked a discussion about double standards in Western media by publishing a comparison of coverage of the murder of British student Henry Novak and the George Floyd case.

According to Musk’s claim, Reuters has not released a single story on Novak’s death, while more than a thousand reports have been published on Floyd’s case.

In his post in his post on social network X, Musk referred to media publication statistics, which, in his opinion, demonstrate an imbalance in the approach of major Western media outlets to covering violent crime.

At issue is the death of 18-year-old student Henry Nowak, a Polish-British national who, according to published data, was fatally stabbed in December 2025 after a night out in Southampton.

The publications cited by Musk claim that police initially handcuffed the victim after accusations of racism from his attacker before providing medical attention.

Reuters and other major international media outlets had not commented on Musk’s claims or published a separate reaction to his statement at the time of the discussion.

The discussion goes beyond a single incident

Musk’s post quickly became part of a broader discussion about so-called “selective public outrage,” police approaches and editorial policies of traditional media outlets when covering interracial conflicts and violent crime.

Such topics regularly generate heated debates in the Western media space, especially against the backdrop of growing political polarization and declining trust in traditional media.

For Musk, criticism of major media outlets remains one of the constant topics of public statements after the acquisition of Platform X. The entrepreneur has repeatedly accused major news organizations of political bias and an uneven approach to covering social and political conflicts.
