Some farmers complain that, amid rapidly rising fuel prices, they are being offered diesel fuel at a price higher than the retail price. In some cases, petroleum product market operators cite a shortage of diesel fuel in Moldova. “We warn that any such crisis could affect the agricultural season, which is now in full swing,” the association’s statement notes.
In this context, it proposes:
- that the ANRE agency announce the country’s petroleum product reserves, particularly diesel fuel reserves;
- that the Competition Council take the necessary steps to investigate the situation on the wholesale diesel fuel market—specifically, to determine whether there is a cartel agreement and whether an artificial shortage is being created in this segment of the energy market.
Forța Fermierilor reaffirms “the farmers’ strategic demand for a refund of the excise tax on diesel fuel used in agricultural work, covering the entire volume of fuel purchased this year.”
