Under an agreement between the parties, NIBULONA’s barge-tug convoys will operate on the Lower Danube between Romania, Serbia, and Bulgaria for four months.
The first voyage has already been completed. The company’s vessels delivered a shipment of phosphate fertilizers from the port of Constanța (Romania) to Prahovo (Serbia), after which they loaded grains and oilseeds at Bulgarian Danube ports for transport to Constanța.
The company notes that operating on a round-trip basis minimizes empty voyages and improves the efficiency of the fleet.
The shipments are carried out by barge-tug convoys with a carrying capacity of approximately 8,000 metric tons each. The ships’ crews consist entirely of Ukrainian seafarers.
According to Sergey Kalkutin, Director of Logistics at NIBULON, the contract with TTS confirms the competitiveness of the Ukrainian fleet in the European market for transportation services and opens up new opportunities for the development of international river logistics.
The company noted that after losing the ability to operate on Ukraine’s inland waterways, it reoriented part of its fleet toward the international Danube market. Currently, NIBULON is providing transportation services on the Middle, Upper, and Lower Danube and is expanding the geographic scope of its international routes, according to latifundist.
