
In the 2025–2026 academic year, there were 16 institutions of higher education. At the start of the academic year, the total number of students at these institutions was 62,900, of whom 46,700 were enrolled in the first cycle, 10,600 in the second cycle, and 5,600 in integrated higher education programs.
Compared to the 2024/2025 academic year, the number of students in higher education institutions increased by 4,000, or 6.8%. These figures are provided by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) in its annual publication on the education system.
It is also reported that in 2025, 9,000 graduates of higher education institutions received a bachelor’s degree, and 4,800 received a master’s degree or its equivalent. In 2025, there were 21 doctoral programs in operation, with 1,500 doctoral students enrolled, and the number of graduates totaled 0.3 thousand.
If we add another 12,000 people who received secondary vocational education to the university graduates, the labor market gained an additional 21,000 workers.
The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) specifies that of the total 12,000 mid-level specialists trained, 6,900 graduates of post-secondary vocational training programs and 5,100 graduates of secondary vocational training programs received certificates of qualification.
During the previous academic year, there were 32 vocational schools offering secondary vocational education programs, 35 colleges offering post-secondary vocational education programs, and 14 centers of excellence offering both post-secondary and secondary vocational education programs.
At the start of the 2025/2026 academic year, 50,300 students were enrolled in these institutions, of whom 14,000 were in vocational schools, 21,900 at colleges, and 14,400 at centers of excellence.
