Ukraine Has Strengthened the Agricultural Sector in Its New Government

Ukraine is returning to a government structure in which the agri-food sector of the economy will be coordinated by a single specialized ministry—the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food. The ministry is headed by Taras Vysotsky, one of the youngest and, at the same time, most widely recognized experts in Ukraine’s agricultural sector.

The establishment of a new specialized ministry resulted from the separation of this sector from the former Ministry of Economy, Environment, Agricultural Policy, and Food.

The context for this process is Ukraine’s European integration, which requires amending 30–40% of the country’s legislation in the agri-food sector. It is also important to note that this sector of the economy generates the largest revenues for the state budget, as pointed out by agrointeligența.
