The decision to provide this financial support was approved at the meeting of the rayon Commission for Emergency Situations of the rayon. The total amount amounted to 186 thousand lei.
The distribution of funds covered 30 families from four localities of the rayon: Myndra, Bravici, Dereneu and Oniscani. The local administration assured that it continues to closely follow the needs of citizens.
Earlier, the central authorities said that the expenses caused by heavy rains and floods in the districts of Calarasi, Straseni, Ungheni, Criuleni will be primarily covered from the budgets of the local public administration authorities. The government plans to intervene only in cases when the costs cannot be covered locally.
“We will have to assess how much of this financial burden will fall on the local budgets, as we should not forget: every year they include amounts for emergencies,” said Sergiu Diaconu, head of the National Center for Crisis Management.
As a reminder, heavy rains on May 22-23 led to an emergency situation in Calarasi district after a local dam burst in Hircauca village. In Dereneu village, a 48-year-old man drowned near his house after getting tangled in tree branches and failing to get out. Another man, 45 years old, drowned in the river in Pirlica village, Ungheni district, while fishing.
