The investment envisages equipping the institution with new computers, monitors, multifunction printers, network servers, communication equipment and IT accessories. Devices for meeting rooms and public events will also be purchased, including interactive displays, webcams, headphones with microphone and other components necessary for daily activities. In addition to office equipment, the project includes network solutions and backup power supply systems.

The total estimated value of the purchase is more than 865 thousand lei, excluding VAT, and the delivery of the equipment is scheduled until mid-2026.

The ministry specified that all the goods will be purchased through an open tender, and the offers will be evaluated on the basis of quality and price criteria, without admitting alternative options.

Digital transformation

As Logos Press previously wrote, the CEC is carrying out a digital transformation of the electoral system through the introduction of electronic tools designed to simplify and increase the efficiency of internal processes. One of the most recent innovations is a digital platform that allows complaints to be submitted and processed electronically, thereby increasing the transparency and accessibility of challenge mechanisms.

At the same time, through the launch of separate web pages dedicated to the activities of territorial electoral bodies, the CEC attempts to promote transparency and accessibility of electoral processes at the local level.

It should be recalled that the institution’s budget for 2026 was approved at the level of 151 million lei, which is more than two times less than the budget for 2025. The reduction is explained by the fact that 2026 is a year without national elections, while the next electoral campaigns are scheduled for 2027, when general local elections will be held.
