The portfolio includes infrastructure, energy, and business support

According to the government, the World Bank Group’s current portfolio includes 11 investment projects, one DPO budget support program, and two projects at an advanced stage of preparation.

World Bank-supported initiatives cover energy and energy efficiency, water supply and sanitation, agriculture and irrigation, education, health care, and rehabilitation services.

In addition, the projects aim to develop small and medium-sized enterprises, improve transportation and other forms of connectivity in rural areas, and enhance the country’s resilience to external and internal risks.

The parties also discussed further progress on ongoing projects and the preparation of new initiatives. Vasile Tofan reaffirmed the government’s readiness to maintain an ongoing dialogue with the World Bank to accelerate the implementation of priority programs.

Cooperation Enters a New Phase

Over the entire period of cooperation with the World Bank, more than 45 operations with a total value of approximately 1.6 billion euros have been implemented in Moldova.

Current collaboration is taking place within the framework of the Country Partnership Program for 2023–2027. At the same time, the World Bank has already begun preparing a new partnership framework program for the next period.

For Moldova, cooperation with international financial institutions remains one of the sources of funding for major infrastructure and institutional projects. The new partnership program is intended to define the priorities for continued support following the completion of the current cycle.
