The initiative, jointly developed by the Ministry of Education and Research and the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection, is driven by the declining “functional relevance” of the school in its current format and the need to expand the network of specialized social services.

The property of the liquidated institution will be divided between the two state structures. The training building at 8 Fantalului Street, with a total area of 391.2 square meters, will be donated to the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection for further transformation into a Multifunctional Center of Social Services for Persons with Disabilities. The second building, located at 83, Mihaila Cogalniceanu Street, will be taken over by the Republican Center for Psycho-pedagogical Assistance to expand and strengthen its infrastructure.

What will happen to the students and staff?

All 117 students currently enrolled in the vocational school (78 of them with special educational needs) will be able to complete their studies and receive diplomas in this institution by the end of June 2027. Starting with the next admission campaigns, the territorial structures of psycho-pedagogical assistance will have to ensure the vocational guidance and placement of applicants with special needs in other vocational education institutions in Chisinau and Balti.

The school’s staff consists of 49 employees. The staff will be transferred to the new center on the basis of industrial necessity, and in case of impossibility of transfer, they will be dismissed by redundancy.

Vocational School No. 11 trains young people with special educational needs in the following fields: textile industry (clothing, footwear and leather goods), crafts, care for elderly people and adults with disabilities, electronics and automation.

Earlier, Logos Press wrote about another “takeover”: the Engineering College in Straseni will be absorbed by the Chisinau-based Center of Excellence in Energy and Electronics.
