According to the inspectorate, the entire explosive charge carried by the drone detonated on impact. Two people in the apartment that caught fire – a woman and a 14-year-old boy – managed to run to safety. Medics diagnosed the woman with first-degree burns and the boy with a severe panic attack, the ambulance service said. Both were hospitalized, Mediafax reports.

The fire has now been completely extinguished. The authorities have prepared temporary accommodation points for local residents, but they have not yet applied for resettlement, the press service of the inspectorate said on its Facebook page. The area of the incident has been cordoned off.

Tonight it was also reported about the discovery of another drone that crashed in the north-west of Romania – in Maramures county. That UAV had a wingspan of about three meters, but did not carry an explosive charge. An investigation is under way. No injuries were reported.
