A key decision in the modernization of the border crossing was the use of modular infrastructure. This made it possible to avoid lengthy capital construction projects.
Prior to the modernization, staff members worked in metal trailers that did not meet modern standards and did not provide comfortable working conditions.
Currently, new modular buildings have been installed at the checkpoint; the road surface and canopies have been repaired; and a restroom area, an autonomous sewage system, and a water supply system have been installed.
First Deputy Minister for Reconstruction Serhiy Derkach, together with the head of the regional military administration, Ruslan Osipenko, inspected the results of the modernization. During the visit, they discussed the need to provide the checkpoint with shelter and to conduct an additional assessment of security measures.
The relevant agencies were instructed to submit specific proposals for strengthening the protection of people within the checkpoint’s territory.
The “Kelmentsy–Larga” checkpoint provides road connectivity between Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova and is part of the Chernivtsi Oblast’s transportation network.
