MAIA: “Wine has been and remains Moldova’s calling card.”

In his opening remarks at the conference, the MAIA Secretary General described the role of the wine sector in the national economy as follows: “Moldovan wine has always been more than just an export product; it is now our calling card, the way our country presents itself to the world.”

Based on this approach, the Ministry of Agriculture, together with the National Office for Grapes and Wine, continues to promote the national brand “Wine of Moldova” both domestically and abroad. In this context, representatives from various ministries and agencies presented to conference participants the provisions of the Strategic Agricultural Policy Program for 2026–2030 pertaining to the conditions for providing financial support to operators in the wine sector.

In addition, the conference announced the “Wine That Unites Us” platform, symbolically structured around the number 25. That is, 25 restaurants, wineries, and cultural institutions; 25 “Wines of Moldova” ambassadors; and 25 wine-themed anniversary events. The initiative will bring together wineries, the HoReCa sector, sommeliers, tour guides, and cultural institutions—through tastings, gastronomic events featuring special menus, and tourism programs promoting wines with Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) status and local grape varieties.

As Logos Press previously reported, according to data presented by ONVV Director Stefan Iamandi, wine exports totaled $116.2 million in the first seven months of 2026, while the volume of shipments abroad reached 61.5 million liters. The products were exported to 65 countries through 114 active exporters. Europe remains the main market, accounting for 61% of the total export value.
