Romanian media had previously reported that Nicușor Dan and Volodymyr Zelenskyy would take part in the festive events in the Moldovan capital.

The Office of the President of Moldova clarified that the itinerary for the foreign leaders’ visit and opportunities for members of the press will be announced separately.

As a reminder, on August 24, Maia Sandu took part in events marking the 35th anniversary of Ukraine’s independence in Kyiv. During the visit, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy awarded her the Order of Princess Olga, First Class—one of Ukraine’s highest state honors.

That same morning, Maia Sandu signed a decree awarding Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy Moldova’s highest state honor—the “Order of the Republic.” The award was granted for an outstanding contribution to the defense of peace and freedom on the European continent, as well as in recognition by the Moldovan people of the courage of the Ukrainian people.
