As part of the “Safe Communities” program, seven organizations from seven communities will be selected. In addition, local authorities must provide a contribution of at least 15% of the initiative’s cost.
Funds may be allocated to projects aimed at improving the safety of public spaces, enhancing access to support services, raising public awareness, and changing social norms that contribute to violence.
Eligible applicants are nonprofit organizations registered in Moldova that operate in communities with a population of at least 5,000 people.
Applications will be accepted until September 27, 2026. The selected initiatives are scheduled to be implemented from February through May 2027.
The program is implemented by the “Partnership for Development” Center (CPD) in collaboration with UN Women Moldova and is funded by the European Union.
It is worth noting that, according to the National Bureau of Statistics, in 2025, 843 people were victims of reported crimes related to domestic violence, 69.4% of whom were women. By comparison, the previous year saw 926 victims, 70.5% of whom were women.
