According to the ministry, a tender for the design will be announced in June.
The project is being discussed as part of the transformation of the old publishing complex into a modern cultural space.
The authorities want to create an open space for artists, theaters, musicians and independent initiatives. Exhibitions, events and public discussions are also envisioned.
According to the ministry, the project has passed the stage of public consultations. They involved representatives of the cultural sector, government agencies and civil society. International experts were also involved in the discussions, with the support of Innovate Moldova
The next step is the presentation of the feasibility study. After that, the development of a full-fledged project documentation will begin.
Implementation will be handled by the Regional Development Agency “Chisinau”.
The Ministry of Culture also plans to open part of the Universul space before the works are finalized. Cultural events and pilot projects will be organized there.
The idea of the project is to turn a former industrial building into an urban cultural hub open to the public and creative initiatives.
