Fisheha Tessema and Gheorghe Hazder
Environment Minister Gheorghe Hazder held a meeting on July 6 with representatives of the World Bank, during which they discussed ongoing cooperation in the field of environmental protection and preparations for the “Moldova Green Shield” project, according to a statement from the ministry.
The project aims to help the Republic of Moldova better prepare for the impacts of climate change. It is based on two main areas of activity: the restoration of forests and degraded lands in the south of the country. Through these efforts, the project will help protect biodiversity and support communities vulnerable to drought, land degradation, and other environmental risks.
During the discussions, the parties also discussed the support provided by the World Bank to the Republic of Moldova, including through the RE-MAP project, which aims to restore forest ecosystems, pastures, and wetlands in 15 districts across the country.
