According to the press service of the Ministry of Defense, the personnel went to the village of Penasesti in Straseni district to carry out rescue operations. The operation was initiated at the request of the local authorities. The servicemen of the “Codru” engineering battalion are involved in clearing access roads, evacuating property and eliminating the consequences of floods, which allows specialized emergency services to reach the victims faster.

For its part, the National Road Administration mobilized 30 road workers and more than 20 units of special equipment in several regions of the country, including Causeni, Ialoveni, Straseni, Singerei, Glodeni and Drochia districts, to clear the roads of soil and vegetation. Although most of the roads have been cleared, the traffic on the G82.1 highway in Straseni is temporarily blocked. Crews continue to work on restoring normal traffic.

At the same time, National Police officers are monitoring the situation in Chisinau municipality, where water accumulations are hampering traffic on a number of main arteries, including the Munchesti highway, Calea Yesilor street and Albisoara street.

Authorities warn that due to the persistence of the “yellow code” of meteorological danger, precipitation may continue. In this situation, drivers are urged to exercise extra caution, adapt their speed to road conditions and avoid affected areas if possible. Emergency response forces remain on standby to intervene promptly in case of new risks.

We would like to remind you that heavy rains that took place on  June 6-7 have again led to critical situations in a number of regions, causing disruptions in road traffic and requiring emergency response measures.
