At the start of today’s cabinet meeting, Vasile Tofan noted that the number of inspections has increased recently, and that in some cases, inspectors are abusing their authority. At the same time, he emphasized, this issue concerns nearly every business owner.
“I have received numerous reports from businesspeople, especially exporters,” said the prime minister. “They are not asking anything of the government. They do not receive subsidies; they have invested their own funds, and yet they are facing pressure from certain regulatory agencies. When an entrepreneur loses two out of five workdays a week just to deal with inspections—and masked individuals, who have been appearing more and more frequently lately, show up—the law no longer serves the interests of the public. I ask you to propose a series of measures that will simplify and streamline these inspections. I have also discussed this issue with Olga Golban of the State Tax Service, since many complaints concern the activities of that agency.”
In this regard, the government will collect reports of abuses via the email address [email protected] and analyze them to find solutions for simplifying inspection procedures and reducing the burden on entrepreneurs. The email address will also be published on the government’s website so that those who have been subjected to excessive scrutiny can report their experiences.
“I will read some of them aloud at a government meeting. We ask entrepreneurs to invest and be optimistic, but when inspections and searches take place, they lose trust in this country,” emphasized Vasile Tofan.
