Since the beginning of this year, industrial production has increased by 7.9%. According to the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), this growth was driven by increased production in the extractive industries (+2.2%), in the manufacturing sector (+7.0%), and in the production and supply of electricity, heat, gas, hot water, and air conditioning systems (+14.2%).
Geographically, the positive trend was most strongly driven by enterprises in the Central region (+8.4%), the Northern region (+6.2%), and Chisinau itself (+6.1%).
Producer Prices
According to the NBS, producer prices for industrial goods rose slightly by 0.1% in June compared to May, while exports of Moldovan goods increased by 18.7% compared to June of last year.
At the same time, on a year-over-year basis (compared to June 2025), the overall price index fell by 0.4%, while industrial output has risen in price by an average of 0.3% since the beginning of the year.
The main trend in June was in the energy sector, where producer prices are dragging the index down. The primary reason for the overall annual decline in prices was a 12.8% drop in tariffs and resource costs in the energy sector.
Price growth within the manufacturing sector slowed. Food (+1.9% over the year), beverages (+1.7%), and furniture (+0.5%) saw the slowest price increases.
In the related agro-industrial sector, producer prices fell by 4.6% during the first half of the year. Field vegetables (-29.4%) and fruits (-23.5%) saw the sharpest declines in prices.
