The next attempt is scheduled for September 1, interfax.com.ua reported, citing sources in Brussels.
“A second attempt on July 22 to convince Hungary to approve the results of the verification of Clusters 2 and 3 for Moldova and Ukraine ended in failure: a third attempt is scheduled for September 1,” the publication’s website reported on Wednesday.
“Today, COELA failed for the second time to approve the results of the review of Clusters No. 2 and No. 3 for Moldova and Ukraine due to Hungary’s reluctance. The issue has been postponed until September,” one of the publication’s sources said.
As previously reported, at the COELA working group meeting on July 17, Hungary refused to begin the process of opening negotiation clusters No. 2 and No. 3 for Ukraine but agreed to open cluster No. 3 for Moldova. However, this option did not receive the support of a majority of EU member states, and no decision was made.
