
The official launch of the program took place on the Day of Sports and Olympic Movement, which also marked the opening of the sports season in Nisporeni. The event included competitions in several sports, including mace throwing, archery, bench shooting, volleyball and chess, gathering participants of all ages and many sports fans.
The “Nisporeni – Sports Capital 2026” program includes the organization of five national-level events:
– National Motocross Championship – June 2026;
– Nisporeni Sports Festival – August 2026;
– National Forum of Sports Professionals – September-October 2026;
– Sports Gala Concert – December 2026;
In addition, the program includes activities to develop and strengthen the capacity of local professionals in Nisporeni.
The activities under the Sports Capital Program are held for the second time, the Ministry of Education and Research said in a press release.
Nisporeni as the capital was selected following an open competition in which 10 local authorities participated. The ministry will allocate a budget of about 2 million lei for its implementation.
These resources will be used to organize a comprehensive program of sports and cultural activities for all age groups, with a focus on inclusiveness, participation and sustainable development.
The winner of the first phase of this program was the city of Calarasi.
