Moldova is less vulnerable to fraud than Romania

Fraud continues to evolve in the global economy. Criminal networks now operate faster, larger and more efficiently than ever before, utilizing digital systems. Businesses face increasing pressure from identity theft, cybercrime, financial fraud and other organized crime. At the same time, countries vary dramatically in their ability to prevent and respond to these threats.

The Fraud Vulnerability Index for 112 countries was generated by Sumsub based on four key factors: fraudulent activity, resource availability, government intervention and economic health. Lower scores indicate higher fraud resilience, and higher scores indicate greater exposure to risk.

Moldova ranks 59th in this index with 2.5 points. In comparison, the leaders of the ranking – Luxembourg – have 0.8 points, Denmark – 0.9 points, and Finland – 1.0 points.

European countries in general lead the world ranking in cyber threat resilience. Norway and the Netherlands round out the top five. Switzerland, Sweden and Austria also show high results.

But not all of them.

The European country Romania is lower in the ranking than Moldova – in 65th place with 2.7 points.

Ukraine is in 89th position with 3.7 points. Belarus is in 81st place – 3.3 points. Russia is absent from the index for some reason. Also, the United States of America is not in the index.

The most vulnerable countries in the list are Nigeria – 6.4 points, Indonesia – 6.5 points and Pakistan – 7.7 points.
