The ministry clarifies that the figure of 4.5 million metric tons of goods (cited by the former head of the state-owned enterprise “Moldovan Railways,” note by Logos Press) represents the estimated annual capacity of the railway corridor between Ukraine and Moldova, not the agreed-upon traffic volume for the coming months.
“CFM will organize transit freight transportation based on the actual capacity of the infrastructure, the availability of rolling stock, train schedules, and orders from Moldovan exporters. The Ministry constantly monitors this data, and the mechanism will be adjusted in the event of delays or pressure on national exports. The interests of Moldovan farmers and exporters are a prerequisite for the mechanism’s functioning, not an issue we will analyze only after problems arise,” the ministry’s statement reads.
The ministry emphasizes that it respects the right of farmers’ associations to express their concerns. “However, repeating hypothetical scenarios does not turn them into facts. Currently, there is no data indicating that the mechanism has blocked Moldovan exports, increased costs for local producers, or allowed goods declared as being in transit to be sold on the domestic market.”
