
The system consists of five sections connected by a conveyor belt, and each stage of the production process can be programmed and monitored.
Students in the Faculty of Computer Engineering, Computer Science, and Microelectronics develop programs for the assembly stages and work with Siemens industrial controllers, which are used to automate production processes at manufacturing facilities.
According to Associate Dean Nicolae Ababii, the facility allows students to study not only programming but also the interaction between software, controllers, equipment, and logistics processes within a single automated industrial system. Students can apply for internships at relevant companies in the country, which allows them to gain practical experience working with modern automation technologies.
“Students also have the opportunity to develop their skills outside of university classes. In particular, they participate in the Formula Student project and various international competitions. ‘Haidukul’ is an electric vehicle designed at the Technical University of Moldova,” Ababii said.
As Logos Press previously reported, the Technical University of Moldova has also implemented its own artificial intelligence model, which operates on the principle of a ChatGPT-type assistant. As a result, the university now has access to its own model, hosted on local servers, and to its own code development tool. The systems, which are wholly owned by the Technical University of Moldova, are available to students free of charge, and the university covers the costs of maintaining them.
