Among the measures outlined in the plans is the updating of maps of areas at risk of flooding. The plans also call for work to restore, maintain, and ensure the safety of hydraulic infrastructure, including flood control dams, drainage systems, and reservoirs. This list includes the hydraulic structures of the Gidigici and Stânca – Costești reservoir systems.
Another objective is to modernize monitoring and early-warning systems. To this end, plans call for the establishment of new automated meteorological and hydrological stations.
The plans also include measures to protect settlements near small rivers—by restoring riparian forest strips, reforesting woodlands, and preserving the floodplain vegetation of these water bodies (Reut, Bic, Ichel, Prut, Camenca, and Lepushna). In this context, a feasibility study is planned to protect the municipality of Chișinău from flooding, and work has been carried out to clear the bed of the Bic River along the Vatra-Chișinău section.
