How Public Finances Work
During the meeting, Ion Gumene, State Secretary of the Ministry of Finance, explained to the young people the basic principles of how the public finance system works. Using practical examples, he discussed the formation and use of the state budget, public debt management, and the financing of the country’s priority development areas.
Special attention was given to the Republic of Moldova’s European course and its impact on the public finance system. In particular, the discussion focused on the modernization of state institutions, increasing transparency, and bringing national mechanisms into line with European Union standards.
The meeting format included not only presentations but also discussions with participants. The young people asked questions about the work of the Ministry of Finance and the practical organization of public finance management.
Young People Are Interested in Careers in the Financial Sector
Participants were also interested in career opportunities in the financial sector, internships, and volunteer programs offered by the Ministry of Finance.
Questions covered both the professional activities of ministry staff and opportunities to gain practical experience while still in school.
“Financier Day” provided participants with an opportunity to learn about the work of the Ministry of Finance and gain a more practical understanding of the role of public finance in the country’s development. Such events are also aimed at increasing young people’s interest in financial education and professional careers in this field.
