This trend continues the previous months, when withdrawals from banks exceeded deposits by billions of lei. The situation indicates a decrease in the level of confidence in non-cash settlements. The largest share of disbursed funds came from cash withdrawals from individuals’ accounts.

According to NBM data, in February, the volume of cash inflows amounted to 12,398 million lei (-3.1% versus February 2025), while the volume of withdrawals amounted to 13,425 million lei, increasing by 52 million lei (0.4%).

The main volume of cash was received by banks from the sale of foreign currency by individuals and from trade proceeds of enterprises.

Trade deposited in bank accounts in February less in year-on-year comparison (-4.1%), but more than half of all received funds. Revenue from the sale of consumer goods amounted to 6,712 million lei (54.1% of the total amount).
