Armenia – waiting for preliminary voting results

Voting in the parliamentary elections has been completed in Armenia. All 2005 polling stations throughout the country have closed. Counting of votes has started.

The preliminary results of the voting will be summarized by the Central Election Commission on June 8 until 20.00 on the live broadcast of Public Television and Public Radio of Armenia, ARKA.am reports.

As Armenpress writes, as of 17:00, 1 million 224 thousand 957 voters, or 48.92% of citizens having the right to vote, out of 2 million 503 thousand 976 citizens having the right to vote, took part in the voting.

4000 technical devices were used for electronic voter registration, video cameras were installed at 1758 polling stations to ensure simultaneous broadcasting (in polling stations with 300 or more voters). Of the 1996 polling stations, 612 were accessible to voters with mobility impairments.

Seventy-one local media outlets and some 180 foreign media representatives were accredited to cover the elections and the voting process.

Thirteen local and eight international observation missions were accredited to observe the elections. Members of 35 diplomatic and consular missions accredited in the Republic of Armenia, as well as representatives of 14 electoral bodies observed the elections in the status of visitors.

The citizens of the Republic of Armenia who have reached the age of 18 have the right to vote in the NA elections. 2 million 505 thousand 228 people have the right to vote.

18 political forces were registered for participation in the elections: 16 parties and 2 blocs.
