The launch of the initiative was announced by Meta’s head of product, Naomi Gleit, in a video message on Instagram. According to her, the company is developing a more flexible revenue model and reducing its dependence on advertising revenue.
The new products are united under the Meta One brand, which will become the platform for the company’s paid services.
Meta’s capital expenditures this year will total $125-145 billion. The main investments are aimed at the development of AI infrastructure and the construction of data centers.
According to media reports citing AFP, basic subscriptions will cost about $3.99 a month for Instagram Plus and Facebook Plus and $2.99 for WhatsApp Plus. They will include advanced analytics, engagement statistics and profile customization tools.
WhatsApp Plus focuses on personalization – design themes, stickers and advanced interface settings.
Separately, according to CNBC, Meta is testing the Meta One Premium package for up to $19.99 per month. Pilot launches are planned in Singapore, Guatemala and Bolivia.
Meta previously offered paid versions of Facebook and Instagram without ads in Europe. The new model extends this approach beyond regulatory requirements.
