“My visit to Moldova, which marks the first state visit by an Indian president, reflects India’s desire to deepen cooperation with Moldova in all areas, including political, economic, cultural, and people-to-people ties,” she said in her remarks.
Speaking before an audience of leading business representatives and a high-level Indian business delegation, President Murmu noted that the partnership is based on mutual respect and democratic values established since 1992.
Encouraging Moldovan companies to explore the Indian market, the president assured them of a “transparent, predictable, and investor-friendly business environment” in India.
“I invite Moldovan companies to come and explore opportunities for cooperation with India,” President Murmu stated.
At the same time, President Murmu urged the Indian delegation to take advantage of Moldova’s talented human capital and its strategic geographic location.
“I also urge Indian companies to pay attention to the opportunities that Moldova offers. Your entrepreneurship, vision, and commitment will play a decisive role in building strong economic partnerships,” she said.
“I am confident that today’s meetings will lay the foundation for new partnerships and innovative cooperation, taking economic interaction between India and Moldova to a new level,” the President said, referring to a “new chapter” in the economic partnership between the two countries.
“Let us together write a new chapter in the India-Moldova economic partnership,” she said.
There is enormous potential for cooperation
In her opening remarks, the President noted that India and Moldova have maintained warm and friendly relations since the establishment of diplomatic ties in 1992. “Our partnership is based on mutual respect, democratic values, and a shared commitment to peace, development, and international cooperation,” she said.
“As India moves toward its ‘Vikshit Bharat 2047’ vision, we strive for a partnership based on trust and shared prosperity,” President Murmu stated.
Highlighting India’s status as one of the world’s fastest-growing major economies, President Murmu pointed to India’s digital transformation and its excellence in the manufacturing sector as key factors that complement Moldova’s reform-oriented approach and its strategic access to European markets.
A key point of her remarks was the growing cooperation in the energy sector. President Murmu reported that Indian companies are currently implementing a major high-voltage power transmission line connecting Chisinau with Romania.
“I am very encouraged by the growing cooperation in the energy sector. I have been informed that Indian companies are implementing a high-voltage power transmission line connecting this city to Romania, which will help enhance Moldova’s energy resilience and regional interconnectivity. Indian companies are interested in participating in Moldova’s development projects in the renewable energy sector, including solar energy, energy storage systems, smart grids, green hydrogen, and other clean technologies,” she said.
“There is enormous potential for cooperation in various sectors, such as digital technologies, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, financial technologies, digital public infrastructure, infrastructure development, renewable energy, advanced manufacturing, logistics, agriculture, the food industry, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, and healthcare. I am pleased that most of these sectors are represented here today,” said President Murmu.
