The draft amendments to the relevant government decree, developed by the Ministry of Education and Research, were approved on May 20.
The new measures are aimed at increasing the attractiveness of the teaching profession and reducing staff shortages in scarce disciplines, especially in rural areas.
Teachers of mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology and informatics (STEM disciplines) who will work in Chisinau and Balti municipalities will be able to receive 300,000 lei each, while those who choose to work in rural areas – in villages, communes, towns, first-level municipalities and ATU Gagauzia – up to 375,000 lei.

The financial support will be provided depending on the level of education, specialty and locality. The payment will be made in two stages: 50% after the first six months of employment and 50% after one and a half years of actual activity.
The draft also provides for measures to de-bureaucratize and improve the efficiency of the distribution of young specialists. Procedures for transfer between educational institutions are clarified, clear deadlines for submission and review of documents are established, and cases of suspension of work or transfer of a specialist to another institution are regulated.
The document includes measures to support professional stability, including additional benefits for graduates who are employed in schools where they have had pedagogical practice or worked during their studies.
The new provisions will apply to young professionals placed after July 1, 2026.
Attracting young personnel to the teaching profession is one of the priorities of the Ministry of Education and Research. Young people who want to become teachers can choose pedagogical specialties at universities in the country.
