According to the prime minister, the new minister of agriculture and food industry faces the task of making Moldovan agriculture more efficient and competitive.
“His economic background and experience working in international financial institutions will help us attract more resources to modernize agriculture and accelerate the reforms needed in this sector, especially now that climate change is putting increasing pressure on our farmers. His mission is clear: to make Moldovan agriculture more efficient, competitive, and better adapted to modern economic realities,” stated Prime Minister Vasile Tofan.
Romanian MP Claudiu Năsui—Candidate for Moldova’s Minister of Economy
Romanian MP Claudiu Năsui, a former economy minister in the neighboring country, has been nominated for the position of Minister of Economic Development and Digitalization. The prime minister highlighted his experience in the private sector and public administration, as well as his background in economics.
“We need this kind of energy in the Ministry of Economy. His priorities will be to reduce bureaucracy in the government, address the problems of state-owned companies, cut budget expenditures, and remove obstacles that hinder the development of small and medium-sized enterprises.”
According to the prime minister, Năsui will be tasked with helping transform the Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalization into one of the main drivers of reform and economic growth.
The prime minister also noted that these personnel changes are part of a plan to accelerate reforms and improve the efficiency of public administration.
“I said when the government took office that the economy is at the heart of our agenda and that we would make changes to the team when necessary. With these two appointments, we aim to accelerate reforms, make the government more efficient, and provide the economy—including the agricultural sector—with greater opportunities for growth.”
