
For the third consecutive year, the NBM participates in the international event “European Night of Museums” and invites everyone to get acquainted with the history of Moldova’s money and the role of the central bank in the economic life of the country.
The visitors will have the opportunity to learn from NBM specialists about the meaning of the symbols defining the national currency, the process of banknote production and technologies of banknote protection, as well as about the possibilities of authenticity verification.
“The national currency keeps the memory of the society, the symbols of the country and the trust of the people in the state institutions,” says Anca Dragu, Governor of the National Bank of Moldova. – The participation of the NBM in the European Night of Museums is an invitation to look at money through the prism of its identity, cultural and educational value”.
The exhibition will include commemorative and jubilee coins, rare currency issues, archival materials and other exhibits illustrating the evolution of the national monetary system. Visitors will be presented with a unique exhibit, a gold bullion weighing more than 12 kilograms.
During the excursions, visitors will be able to communicate directly with NBM specialists, ask questions and learn little-known details about the monetary art.
The tours will be organized hourly in a format accessible to the general public. Participation is free of charge, without prior registration, and access is possible upon presentation of an ID card.
“European Night of Museums”, which is being held for the XXII time, is organized under the patronage of UNESCO, the Council of Europe and the International Council of Museums, promoting free access of citizens to culture.
