According to information from the State Tax Service, the total amount of transfers was 25.8 million lei, and the number of beneficiaries was 1,218 organizations.

A list of taxpayers who received funds under the interest deduction mechanism, specifying the amounts transferred for 2026, is available on the State Tax Service website.

The percentage deduction mechanism was introduced in 2016 and took effect on January 1, 2017 (with respect to income tax on income earned during 2016). Thanks to this mechanism, resident individuals can allocate 2% of their income tax to nonprofit organizations and religious institutions.

The mechanism applies to individuals who have no income tax arrears and who pay their income tax in full and on time.

Individuals engaged in professional activities in the field of justice may also allocate funds by completing an income tax return filed by the established deadline.

The “2%” mechanism is not a donation that people make from their own funds. If a person decides to allocate 2% to an organization or church, 98% of the tax will go to the state budget, and 2% will go to the beneficiary they have chosen to support.
