The Assay Office will conduct an external audit

The State Assay Office is seeking an auditor. The agency has announced a tender to audit its 2025 financial statements, a year in which it posted a profit of 2.5 million lei.

The estimated contract value is 60,000 lei, excluding VAT. The audit is scheduled to take place in September–October 2026, and the final report must be submitted no later than October 31, 2026. Bids may be submitted until August 26.

It is worth noting that in 2025, the State Assay Office generated 12.95 million lei in revenue, which is 13.3% higher than the planned figure. Expenses totaled 10.42 million lei, and the financial result was 2.52 million lei.

Over the course of the year, the agency inspected more than 639,900 items and transactions involving precious metals and gemstones and hallmarked 635,700 items. Gold and silver items accounted for the majority: more than 301,000 gold items and over 336,000 silver items were examined. Compared to 2024, the total volume of activity decreased by 2.6%.

The State Assay Office is an agency under the Ministry of Finance. It provides services for the testing and hallmarking of precious metal items, the examination of precious metals and gemstones, their appraisal, the conduct of analyses, and the production of reagents for assaying.
