In a comment to Logos Press, the expert noted that the Moldovan side came to the negotiations with a proposal to reduce (due to the deteriorating situation with water flow into the Dniester from the Carpathians) the discharge from the reservoir to 90 cubic meters per second for five days, and then to 85 cubic meters per second. As a result, the decision described above was adopted. In mid-August, the commission will meet again to analyze the situation and update its decisions.
Current forecasts indicate that no significant precipitation is expected in the Carpathians during the first half of August. Accordingly, the water level in the reservoir may drop from the current 113.15–113.20 meters to 112 meters.
