The new premises will house the central office of the State Labor Inspectorate, as well as its Chisinau branch. The agency has been provided with modern working conditions. The facilities include a visitor reception area, a call center, a conference room equipped for simultaneous interpretation, and office space.
The renovation was funded by the European Union as part of the project “EU Support for the Creation of Inclusive Labor Markets in Moldova.” It is being implemented by the International Labour Organization (ILO) over a two-year period (2024–2026) with a total budget of 2 million euros.
Digitization of Services
The project includes reform of public employment services and labor inspection, as well as the digitization of services. Inspectors have been provided with 30 cameras, which must be used during inspections.
A new website for the agency— ism.gov.md—has been developed. It is a user-friendly platform for obtaining information and reporting illegal activities.
Also, as part of the project, 20 representatives from the Ministry of Labor, the ILO, and social partners received certification in investigating workplace accidents, and 25 underwent training on identifying gender discrimination in the workplace.
In addition, a curriculum and training program for ILO instructors have been developed. In collaboration with the National Confederation of Trade Unions and the National Confederation of Employers, a nationwide information and awareness campaign was developed to combat illegal employment and promote occupational safety and health.
As part of the project, funding was provided to the National Employment Agency for the construction of a new office in Chimishli, which will serve the entire southern region, as well as for the purchase of vehicles, IT equipment, and other items.
