One week before the deadline for the voluntary merger of municipal administrations, four localities in the Leova District announced their decision to consolidate.

Since they are meeting the deadlines set by the government for voluntary consolidation, they will receive approximately 17 million lei from the state budget to incentivize the consolidation process.

These are the villages of Cupcini, Filipeni, Romanovca, and Sărata Nouă. The funds will be invested in their development following the merger and will be directed toward infrastructure and public services.

According to data provided by the authorities, more than a thousand decisions on voluntary consolidation have been approved to date. This represents about 70% of the country’s municipalities that are involved in the process.

We remind you that the deadline for voluntary consolidation expires on July 31 and, according to the authorities, will not be extended.

Last week, during a meeting with Prime Minister Vasile Tofan, representatives of the Congress of Local Authorities of Moldova proposed extending this deadline until the end of the current year.

However, according to Alexei Buzu, the government will begin the process of mandatory consolidation as early as August. As a result, by 2027, there will be no municipalities with fewer than 3,000 residents.
