Based on the latest data from the United Nations World Tourism Organization, this ranking lists the 20 least-visited countries in the world.
The publication loveexploring compiled this list for travelers looking for places to escape the crowds.
Kiribati, an island nation in the Pacific Ocean, came in last place, with only 2,000 tourists visiting in 2022.
Moldova ranked 13th. Here’s how the ranking’s compilers describe our country.
“In 2022, Moldova attracted only 162,000 tourists, most of whom visited the capital, Chisinau. Before gaining independence in 1991, the country was under Ottoman and Russian rule. Two-thirds of the population is of Romanian descent. Moldova is a major exporter of walnuts and produces wine in the regions of Codru, Valul lui Traian, and Ștefan Voda.”
In addition to the two mentioned, the list includes countries such as (in descending order): Bhutan, Tonga, Samoa, Vanuatu, Papua New Guinea, Liechtenstein, the Cook Islands, Burkina Faso, Angola, New Caledonia, Djibouti, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Myanmar, Dominica, Trinidad and Tobago, French Polynesia, Guyana, and Mongolia.
