The agency stated that it takes note of the reports published on several Moldovan websites under the headline “Copyright: We Have Evidence That the Deputy Director of AGEPI Promoted the Interests of Certain Russian Organizations,” and categorically rejects any insinuations regarding the agency’s or its employees’ involvement in illegal activities or in promoting the interests of specific individuals.
These cases involve claims for damages to rights holders amounting to millions of lei.
Earlier, in its statement, the organization AN COPYRIGHT referred to two AGEPI decisions, issued in January 2026, which denied registration to the CANTORIUM and MORA associations on the grounds that they would act in the interests of collective management organizations in the Russian Federation.
“These statements lack any real basis, are not supported by concrete evidence, and represent a continuation of the disinformation campaign launched in the public sphere by certain collective management organizations with the aim of putting pressure on the agency and misleading the public,” the AGEPI statement reads.
AGEPI has established an internal working group to thoroughly examine issues related to the appointment of a collector, improving traceability, and optimizing the process of collecting and distributing royalties, and has also taken a number of specific measures (suspending the activities of collective management organizations that failed to comply with AGEPI’s decisions, initiating special audits to verify compliance with legal provisions, etc.).
