In this regard, agricultural producers are required to document the damage (including taking photos or videos of the areas damaged by animals) and notify the local government agency responsible for wildlife management within 24 hours.
In turn, the hunting reserve manager must initiate an investigation and take measures to mitigate risks and prevent further damage.
If it is determined that the population of wild boars causing damage needs to be reduced, the hunting reserve manager may request permission from the competent government authorities to cull a certain number of animals outside the legally established wild boar hunting seasons.
If compensation for the damage cannot be settled amicably between the owner or manager of the agricultural land and the hunting reserve, the affected party has the right to appeal to the Ministry of the Environment.
Farmers are advised to:
- organize security for their farmland;
- use guard dogs;
- install protective fencing, including electrified fencing, in areas where wild boars frequently migrate;
- install acoustic and/or visual deterrents near agricultural land.
