Speaking ahead of the NATO summit in Ankara, he noted that Sofia had already delivered 13 shipments of military aid to Kyiv.
“We have exhausted our capacity to provide military support—I’m referring to weapons and ammunition from Bulgarian military depots. We have provided 13 packages, and we have nothing else left that we could supply to Ukraine,” the Latvian website bb.lv quotes Radev as saying.
According to him, Bulgaria is ready to continue cooperating with Ukraine in the area of technical support. This involves the repair of Ukrainian military equipment at Bulgarian facilities.
The prime minister’s statement came after Bulgarian Defense Minister Dimitar Stoyanov announced that the country would no longer provide military aid to Ukraine.
At the same time, Rumen Radev believes that the West is attempting to defeat Russia using conventional means but risks provoking an escalation and a nuclear response. He made this statement during the NATO summit in Ankara:
“We, the collective West, are trying to achieve a conventional victory over the world’s largest nuclear power without having sufficient capabilities to counter their hypersonic missiles. This dramatically increases the risk of escalation, raises the risk of a nuclear response, and is very dangerous.”
