According to the government’s press service, in this context, they discussed the development of joint projects and the exploitation of opportunities offered by the Vertical Gas Corridor—a strategic infrastructure project connecting Greece, Bulgaria, Romania, Moldova, and Ukraine.
Officials discussed Moldova’s path toward the European Union, joint projects, and opportunities to expand bilateral cooperation. The conversation also touched on leveraging the potential for trade and investment between Moldova and Bulgaria.
The Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova thanked Bulgaria for its continued support of Moldova’s European integration process. Vasile Tofan emphasized the role of Moldova’s Bulgarian community in developing relations between the two countries and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to protecting its linguistic and cultural identity.
In this context, another topic of discussion was the reform of local public administration currently underway in Moldova. The Bulgarian Prime Minister spoke positively about the process of consolidating municipalities and expressed support for the efforts of the Moldovan authorities.
As a reminder, as part of the territorial reform, the Taraclia district will retain its status as an administrative center. The district-level governance model will be transformed into a second-tier municipality model.
