This was reported by the Cabinet of Ministers. The government’s information emphasizes that this week (from 18 to 22 May), its representatives continued their visits to villages from Teleneşti, Causeni, Rascani, Floreşti, Taraclia, Soldanesti, Cantemir and Cahul districts in order to explain the reform process to local elected representatives and community residents.

As a result, 12 localities in Teleneşti district are merging their mayoralties. The government will provide local authorities with about 92 million lei. The money will be used for the development of public services and communities.

The local councils of 11 villages from the Riscani district also decided to start voluntary unification. In Floresti district, which has 40 mayoralties, 36 local councils decided to start the merger.

In Taraclia district, the mayoralties of four villages are voluntarily united. They will receive more than 13 million lei for infrastructure development.

The procedure of voluntary unification has been simplified and financially strengthened. The villages that decide to merge local administrations will receive 3,000 lei (instead of the 1,000 lei promised earlier) per inhabitant.

The concept of the local government reform also stipulates that a representative of the mayor will work in each village, so that communication between the local administration and the community remains constant.
