Dragu noted that independence is the foundation for freedom, identity, and the future of a prosperous democratic state. The head of the NBM particularly emphasized the country’s integration into the European community. According to her, Moldova’s goal is to become a full-fledged member of the European family.
“This year marks two anniversaries that point to the same path: 35 years of the Republic of Moldova’s independence and 35 years since the founding of the National Bank of Moldova. The NBM has developed alongside the country and has become one of the pillars upon which the country’s European future is built… The banking sector is one of the most striking examples of the transformation that has taken place in the Republic of Moldova. These results demonstrate that the Republic of Moldova can develop rapidly with foresight, cooperation, and trust,” noted Anca Dragu.
In honor of this anniversary, the central bank issued two commemorative coins to mark the occasion, symbolizing this “shared historical journey.”
The coins issued by the NBM for this anniversary are intended to “preserve our collective memory and send a powerful message to future generations about unity, dignity, and the right to determine their own future,” the NBM president noted.
